99 cav sedan 58,989 miles. Only thing i had to replace are the cv shafts due to drop zone springs, intermediate steering shaft, valve cover gasket, brakes and normal maintenance. Heh, that # won't change for a while either.

my 1995 Cav has 162,000 stock bottom end, 52k on the head. Maintenance? I've replaced alternator, starter, head gasket (twice), but all my other @!#$ is all performance upgrades (see reg)

melted a piston around 77k (my fault). Replaced alternator and starter somewhere in the 70k's, nothing else (other than boost blowing out inatake manifold gaskets and stuff, my fault).

My dad put 120,000 on my 02 2200 cav before he handed me the keys.

I bought my 96 Sunfire w/ 2.2 in 2002 with 194,464 miles on it. I am currently at 249,500 miles and my Sunfire has only been in the repair shop twice. Once for the bearing in the back wheels to be replaced and once because the timing belt tensioner broke. I still driving it. I expect to hit 250,000 in the next week or so. It just kills me that this thing is so slow.

My 96 shows that it has a little over 170,000. and i bought it from the original owner who bought it new in 1996. But they kept it maintenenced well, and in good shape even with 2 kids.

i have a 1999 cavalier RS with 94,000 miles on it.. .it has the 2.2 2200 sfi engine and 4 spd overdrive transmission... its a badass car.. well it was till it was wrecked... it sucks... i wish i still had it.. ... anyways... is there a way to take that engine and put in into a 1996 cavalier? i have people keep telling me it cant be done.. but i want to do it... if anybody knows anything about this let me know... send me an email at ElephantRyderz@aol.com..

The head, camshaft, and water cooling flow are different starting at '98. There may be other stuff but idk. Motor/transmission mounts should be the same, but I THINK the wiring may be a probem and require swapping out. Unless the 96 engine is fubar there isn't any gain.

I Bought my 04 Ls sedan in august of 05 with only 18,000 miles on it the 45,000 miles i've put on it since i've had it have been all highway miles. i'm at about 63,740 or so now. I've been very fortunate aside from a cold starting prob that seems to be intermittent the usual oil changes some brakes. Though i'm thinking the popping noise could be one of 3 things possibly a bent valve, some really bad internal wear, or a really good case of carbon buildup. Even though these cars are fuel injected i suppose carbon buildup is still possible.

My 1996, 5 sp, 2.2, has 309k. Everything was original until 300k. I had a fuel line and tank leak. Next my water pump went. Then I replaced the original clutch at 304k. The alternator went at 307k. It coiuld use new struts all the way around. Other than that and a new paint job, car is absolutely awesome. I religiously change the oil at 3k or less.

Sounds awesome Jeff you should hang on to it see if you can't squeeze 6 or 700,000 miles out of it

My 01 2200 4spd has almost 75,000 on the clock now and I'm not the easiest on it. I keep up on the maintinance on it and no problems at all so to speak.

Almost 65,000 here, finally got the new tires about 4 days ago wound up spending more on that than i really wanted to. Now it's looking like i may have to have the ac recharged again for the summer, which is a pain in the ... wish there was a way to stop my car from losing freon so i wouldn't have to fool with it when summer came

my '99 just pushed 350,000 (im not bulsitting any of you i do alot of driving on weekends) what ive replaced is most of the front end, a water pump, misc. timing chains, a camshaft and lifters, and tires other than that its still running strong is this some lucky fluke or did gm build an engine right for once?

nah it's no fluke , it's all in how you drive it and take care of it i think it would be awesome to see an 03, 04 05 J with 850, 900,000 original miles on it even a million miles
