Pro-kit and AGX....
Friday, April 08, 2005 12:23 PM
Well i am FINALLY putting my combo on tomorrow out at the RDFABS shop, Is there anything i should be carful of or watch out for while installing them? Oh and what setting is everyone riding around on? I haven't read anything in the instructions that came with them yet, but on the dials, the lower the # like 1 is stiffer or soft ? Thanks in advance.. Oh and i have the pre-00 strut mounts. I don't need the washers correct?

I was wondering that as well because that is the set up i'm going with (just waiting on the AGX's)

The one person i've talked to with that set up said he had it set at 1 in the front & 3 in the rear.

Anyway, since it's fairly easy to adjust them on the car, just play with the settings untill you find one you like.

The install went pretty easy for me, and I set the dials to 1 - soft and haven't changed them yet. I thought I heard somewhere that the adjustable shocks needed to be "broken" in on the soft setting for a while, maybe that was just for Konis though.

I've ran that combo for almost a year, pushing 18,000 miles. Daily driver with 2-front/6-rear. Still handles well. Holding up well. Little harsh on the bumps, but it's been worth the improvement in handling performance.

A more accurate observation has never been typed. These should be the starting points before any serious performance modification. What's the point of making a serious performer if you can't control it's power?

break them in for so many miles on the soft setting, 1. I have them currently set for 2 in the front and 5 in the rear. When i went to the drags tho i put them all the way to the stiffest and damn its beautiful

I am also doing this same setup today. However I am a bit confuseled about the front springs. Where do they need to be lined up with since there is not a stop on the strut that you would butt the end of the spring up with?

Install was easy as all hell.... Doing it once before made it that way. Only problem that arose.. was one of the struts came with the spacer and the other didn't. One of the adjuster sits higher in the mount and the one sits lower and didn't contain a spacer in the box. So on the higher sitting one i used the spacer and no squeakin or whatso ever, So i guess this is ok. Dunno...

You should ride on the softest setting for 500 miles to "break in" the struts.

I have a 2000 GT. What is this talk about strut mounts? If I do the Pro-kit/AGX combo I have to change out my strut mounts to pre-99? Shouldnt they be fine on OEM 2000+ mounts? Can someone elaborate on this strut mount problem?

Hows the ride? Pictures yet?

the AGX's are not threaded far enough for the 2K mounts so you have to throw some washers under the top bolt. If you don't want to do that, the AGX's fit the pre '00 mounts just fine

one thing i noticed is... one of the struts came with the spacer and sat really high in the mount. So i put the spacer in. The other strut i didn't need to have a spacer and no spacer came with that one. So i have one that sits higher than the other. hmmm... also the one that came with the spacer in front has a side note saything somthing about a change to the design in order to comply with Gm... Blah blah blah...
