After better part of two days I got this kit in, only damage was the usualy busted knuckles and one rear strut mount which melted under the punishment of my drill press.
I used all hand tools for this install, mainly because I was too lazy to learn how to use the airtools that are sitting right next to my compressor, but I think that takes some of the fun out of it.
Want to give a big shout out to Cinny for his Koni Install Guide and many others as I have pulled a lot of good information through searching past posts, I was able to get the install in with relatively few difficulties all by myself.
Now I must say I took it out for a little drive, and wow I like the ride, rides a lot more like my dads Porsche 944 (yeah its old) but now rides a lot less like a cavalier
okay don't hit me for saying that. I cant wait until 500 miles so I can firm up those dampers.
I must say I am a little un-impressed with the actual drop this kit gave me, I think the drop is a little bit mild although so far I give it a A for functionality. I think it maybe would look a little better for another half inch drop. The best pard about the kit is getting rid of that huge cavity above the rear wheel. Im now ready to drive down to the local tire store and get an alignment and pickup my Motegi 17s, will post more pics when that happens.
Only questions I had was it seems like I hear a popping noise (very light) from the rear passenger shock whenever I hit a hole at slow speed, would firming up the damper for quicker repound maybe fix this? The passenger rear has a brand new strut mount so I know that is not the issue and I know I got the spring and everything aligned right when it went on, also everything it torqued to spec. Hope there is not a problem here. Ive searched but haven't come up with a lot of good explanation, is this maybe just common with these type of shocks to get more noise over OEM?

wow it better handle and ride very good if it hardly dropped it for the price. what am i thinking its koni. i guess thats kind of cool that your car looks almost stock but car run circles around other cavi.

Im sure it probably handles alot better but it hardly looks like its been lowered at all......could be the pics..i dont know

Yeah I wanted to post the pics so people could see what it was, not much of a drop over stock, but I feel it is enough to get rid of the 4x4 look when 17s get put on.
The kit was 600 dollars and I think just the Koni Yellows run around that much so the way I see it I got the springs for next to nothing. Not sure where to go next I will probabally keep it like this for a while and maybe eventually put some different springs in it. Im not quite sure what I would put on it yet.

it was some old stuff in from the garage that froze over the winter and didn't come off too well.
definitely sell the springs and get new ones lol.

Wait for them to settle, it may still get a little bit lower. Congrats on doing the install yourself though

Eh well. If it is a good quality spring it wont "settle". That is a lowering myth created to make people not feel bad about the bad quality springs that sag.

You guys think the Tein 1.7 springs would give me a decent drop compared this this? Or should I go a little bit lower? Reminder this is a daily driver and I don't plan on getting a kit.
dont go any more than 1.7" for a daily driver. It gets pretty stiff and uncomfortable. Try out the B+G sport springs. I have them with Koni Reds, and they ride real nice. 1.6" all around.

You are entitled to your opinion, it is true though, high quality springs won't settle much if at all. Eibachs may settle another 0.1", but they typically don't settle much more than that. My B&Gs are still the same height they were when I put them on over a year ago. How do I know? Because I have measured many times to see if they sagged..I mean settled...
When I had Sprint Springs, they rode like ass, and they "settled" from the original 1.8" to 2.25". Talk about low quality sag. Looked great being lowered that much, but rode like sh!t.
My RK Sport Pro Streets did not settle at all either.
Finally, the Ground Controls I used for about a year never settled either and they were linear rate springs. They are now on my friend's car for the past 1.5 years and they still sit at the same height as they did when we put them on. He never changed their height from where they were when they were installed, and the car sits exactly the same.
Most of my research is first hand. It's all about the process the springs undergo when they are made. Low priced springs are not shot peened, and if they are the process is not high quality such as that of Eibach, H&R, or B&G. As a result the springs are not as strong, and when a load is put on them, they sag a bit to where the spring rate overcomes the force of the weight on them.
A strong spring is like a strong man. If you put a sheet of plywood on top of his head, using his hands to balance the plywood, he can hold the weight no problem...if you do the same to a small child, they will squat to support the weight, until they are finally able to hold it...even if it means sitting on the ground.

Oh, and the settings on the Konis are 1/4 turn from full soft on the front and 1/2 turn from full soft on the rear.
Rides is excellent at this setting.

THe more I look at those pics the more I like it.
BUt I still cant pull my self away from my bags. Not yet anyway.
I think the 1/2" higher rear end is ok. Mainly for funtional reasosn. If you put anything in the trunk like a big sub box or whatever your not going to get that squaty look.
