Sometimes when I hit my brakes I hear and feel a grinding noise which seems to come from the front drivers side of my car. It seems to only happen when Im going from slow to a stop, parking lot speeds, drive-thrus, pulling out of driveway ect. I also seem to notice it more when it is raining. I thought it was my pads and rotors, so I changed them, but it still happens. Also when this happens, my car seems to not want to stop, it just grinds and kinda coasts I guess would describe it. I did a search but all I found was something with the abs and it said it made brakes feel like they were made out of rocks, which describes it great. I'm not sure if this would be my problem as it scares me sometimes that im about to "coast" in front of an on coming car and I hope abs wouldn't cause me to get hit. Any ideas what this could be?? Thanks.
Can you hear the ABS clicking, it makes a little noise when it's operating. Otherwise did you ever bed the brakes?
No, I don't think there is a clicking, and it is a loud noise. I did bed the breaks, It started happening before I changed pads/rotors. It has been happening for about 6-7 months now and once in a while it will seem to go away then out of nowhere it returns.
I dont think this is the abs. This happens to my car too, but only if I break hard in a parking lot while turning. i think it has to do with the axles that could explain why one of the tires kept moving while your breaking. Im not completely sure its the axles but im guessing.
I notice it more while turning also, but it did happen once while I was pulling up to a drive thru window, so I can't say it only happens while turning. At first I thought it was brakes, but it does seem more like the axle now, sorry if posted in wrong forum. Any ideas if this would be an expensive fix for a garage to do?
I think the axle is something like 200$ and then as much as 200$ to replace it.
