Okay, I have come to a conclusion about this swap. It cannot be done. The intake manifold is too big. The steering rack is in the way. It needs like an extra 2 inches clearance. Funny, the smallest four cylinder GM makes won't fit. Everything else worked out and mounted up perfectly. I also looked at the third gens and realized that they're firewall is concave where the intake goes and the steering rack is at the bottom of the car. Well, I am still fascinated in this and it is a fun hobby so for my next magic trick, I will attempt a 3400 hybrid. Thank yall for your support this time.

What about modifying the IM to fit? I've never taken a good look at the 2200 IM, but I'm sure it can be modded to make it fit. Or a custom one can be built.

Thi IM is made of plastic and is too complex on the inside to modify. It has a small channel that runs from one hole to the other. I don't know why it's there, but I am sure it needs it. also, it has it's own gasket channel carved around it as well. It will be veeery difficult to fabricate one.
