Let's not forget the whole issue of amperage... If the factory wire is just enough for the draw of the stock pump, what will the aftermarket one realistically need? A larger gauge, I imagine.
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
Racetronix Racetronix wrote:Just a quick note to our valued customers. The FPA-001 (F99-FPA) is not required for the j-body cars. We offer a W-body pump assembly which is the same as the F-body pump assembly less the external jig which was designed to mimic the diameter of the F-body pump. The W-body pump assembly FPA-007 offers the same performance at a lower price.
For most J-body cars the harness is not required from a performance perspective but as we all know the wiring is questionable at best for supporting the factory pump. It is an inexpensive investment which may help eliminate long-term electrical problems with the factory system.
Some people have noted a sealing problem with the venturi feed hose. This is attributed to customers not following the manual's procedure in dealing with the preparation of the hose. If the manual is followed properly this problem should not arise.
Please purchase your Racetronix product from vendors who support this forum. Thanks.
Has anyone tried this pump or are most people still buying the Fbody pump??

A local buddy of mine is using the W-body pump, he said it dropped right in, and worked just fine, but he doesn't have a lot of miles on it yet....
w body pump is the exact same pump as the f body one the only difference is in the red sleeve thethat says racetronix on it the w one doesn't have it thats why theres no moding needed the thing is its sloppy in the plastic holder until it all gets wedged into the sender then its snug

here is my question and something im going to try, we know both the W pump and the LS1 pump work just fine but has anyone consider running this pump
i know a few of my LS1 buddies are and love it more thant the racetronix/ walbro setups
its the same price as the racetronix and supposedly flows 30% more

Only thing I would not be sure about with that pump is I do not see a venturi line hook up. That has been the biggest issue with pumps for our cars.

^^^^ was just gonna say that theres no venturi setup for it not to mention why do you need more flow then a 255 theres few car on here that even need that not to mention 30% more i gues just to pump fuel into the rail and have the pressure regualor send it back i guess

I just installed the w body pump today. Unpin the 2 wires for the sending unit and put them in the new plug with the new pump and clamp the pressure tube to the stock housing and reinstall the assembly back into the tank. It was so simple to do. Yes there is going to be a little play as your installing the pump into the housing but like mentioned above it tightens up when the sock gets slid down in the cup.

just to verify....this is the part number for the "F body pump"? FPA-001 (F99-FPA)
GMR has got nothing on this
It is, but why not get the W-pump? it is a Direct bolt in, with no modding of anything...and it is cheaper!

Modifing that plastic cup by removing the ribs is not a big deal....but I would rather have it snugg in there.
GMR has got nothing on this
the W-body is the EXACT same size as our stock pump....

LOL....well whats the part number for the W body one then?
GMR has got nothing on this
but does the W pump push the same fuel pressure as the LS1 pump

if you think so the w pump i put in had play in the cup retainer until the sock was installed its not goin to be an issue but the stock j pump is a bit widerand fits snuggly in that ribbed retainer where as the w has like a 1/16th of an in of play IT WONT MATTER WHEN ALL FASTENED IN
and as for pump FLOW SAME PUMP EXACT SAME PUMP
W vs F body pump
difference is the w doesn't have the red sleave with racetronix on it
someone get me a measurement of there W body or even an f body pump with no sleave wanna compare to the other

My buddies that we installed it in has a rubber surround, and not the plastic cup, just like my 99 did. Maybe that's why it fit so much better.
