HOT!!!!
Thursday, September 25, 2008 5:18 PM
I took my car for a drive today. Tested it out with my polish job on the intake and TB and got new exhaust. So i was out for about 10 minutes ripping it pretty good, when i got home i check the temp. gauge and it was like 3/4 the way up there and also on the driver side it smelt a little like burning plastic and something else i find hard to explain. any suggestions would be great. The top of the engine was really hot, like if you touched it for a couple seconds you would have a hell of a burn. please help me.

not sure why this is in the performance section but you need to figure out why your car is overheating first...bad thermy or air pocket is generall your first guess.

best suggestion for now is to by a new thermostat and seal, install them and then jack up the passanger side up (fairly high) and fill it back up.

Hey smart ass, they don't normally get as hot as it was. I thought it was unusual, especially when you smell something funky under the hood. so keep your smart ass remarks to yourself and read a little bit more to know what you actually trying to say.

i would make sure you check around everything you took apart and worked on, make sure nothings out of place, and everything is connected where its supposed to go.

Then Id make sure i had the proper amount of coolant and that it was bled correctly and run it again, only id drive it normally to test it next time and see what happens before you start to hog on the throttle.

I am going to venture to say that it is only because you romped on it a lot.
The temp can go up more than you might expect if the coolant has no time to cool off.
