blazer fuel pump help urgent please

Why does everybody said that the blazer pump is almost identical to ours. Or is it just to certain cavaliers. I took my fuel pump out and went to the local parts store and compare them and they are not the same at all. to skiny, connectors are different. please help me understand why. and if it does not fit a 2000 z24 tell me what will fit for performance.

I have it in my 2002 cav. Yes, it fits in the fuel cup, you have to cut the bottom out of the cup to get enough flow to the bottom of the pump. You have to get a different connector for the pump, it cost me around 15 bucks from GM. IIRC, you need a rubber sheath to go around the pump to fill up the space between the pump and cup. Mine came with the sheath, just not the connector. Hope that helps.

Does this same process work for ecotecs? I think my fuel pump just s#!t on me, and if i can use a pump from a blazer, that'd be gravy

I've been told that people have used my fuel pump upgrade in Ecotecs. Same as 02turbo said, some mods were needed.

I've got it in my 2k2......

I have heard a 'new take' on the Blazer/Walbro 1/8th tank cut issue....... mod the pump holder inside the cup to let the pump sit lower in the cup.... Colin mentioned something about this recently.....

For the record, I never cut my stock Pump Cup......

the pump from the blazer DOESNT have a return line in the pump motor itself. So it wouldnt work without creating some method of relocating the return line into the tank itself.

I personally have never seen an electric fuel pump with a return. Maybe you mean the fuel sending unit doesn't have the return.

learn to read for christ sake! you dont use the whole assembly, you buy JUST THE PUMP not the pump/sending unit. you take your sending unit apart, and remove your stock pump, and replace it with the blazer pump.

Hey guys Im doing this swap right now. I have read the FAQ and also done several searches on the subject, however I have a few questions still:

1.When installing the pump, there is no nipple on the blazer pump for the small black line that attaches to the top of the stock pump...where does this need to go or just leave it unplugged?

2. When you put the new pump in do you use the inner and outter socks from the cavalier or do you use the blazer outtermost one?

3. Lastly I know that its mentioned that it can starve at lower fuel levels. When I just plugged it in the pump came on but or only spit out a few drops of fuel, however the car is currently on the 'E' so do I maybe just need to add more gas?

Thanks for your help in advance.

So I put more gas in it and there is definately gas comming out...I dont know if theres enough pressure but there IS some comming out. However, I'm still concerned about that little black line. I've found several post asking about it but none of them have answers! So the question remains, what to do with that little black line that attaches to the top of the cavalier pump? I really need your guys help with this!

OK.... one more time...

That "small black line" that you have there, the one that was attached to a brass nipple on your stock pump, its used to fill up the module (can) and keep fuel to the pump when the tank is running low. if the pump you have dosnt have that brass nipple on it, you cant obviously take advantage of this feature.

All fuel filters(socks) do the same thing, its just some filter better than others, (I would use which ever was cleaner)

Okay well thanks for the help guys I kinda ran outta time on my install and ended up putting the cav pump back in because it was putting out more pressure than the blazer pump I got, I'm only planning on running like 6psi anyways so I will just keep it low until I can get back in there and get it done right.

So if you dont use it, just leave it hanging in there?

Maybe I am missing it but I don't see where in the instructions it says to cut something other then the two tabs on the bottom. Is that done to eliminate this 1/8 tank fuel cut issue?

Curious if this was ever answered?
