yeah as stated, my fuel gauge isnt working. it was working just fine till i did the 2.4 swap, now im constantly full. i threw a code a couple days ago, it was fuel level sensor malfuntion or something like that. Any Ideas? thanks in advance
Typically if the fuel guage shows full all the time it's the gauge, but it's a gm so with that in mind normally if the fuel gauge sender is bad it would show empty ALL the time, this is a fact.U would have to remove the tank to change the sender obviously ,but based on ur post the swap should have nothing to do with the gauge showing full, unless u have a pinched wire from the harness somewhere that's grounding the sending wire for the fuel gauge coming from the tank.I hope this useful to determine what u want to do.
One other thing if the 2.2 had a different wiring location in the wiring block versus the 2.4 ur fuel sender wire maybe in a different location in the block. This is worth checking into I would def check to make sure if the wiring block was maybe diff on this perticular wire which would inturn cause ur problem.
didnt even think of that, thanks, ill check into it.
I'm having a similar problem, after working under the dash of my 2.4L my gauge now reads full then after a while the check engine light comes on and the gauge pulses down to zero and stays there. Can anyone help me out on this? I have no clue what wire I should even be looking for or what kind of signal I should be checking. Thanks to anyone that can help!!

For me, it seems I have the opposite issue on my 2.2L
The guage typically reads full even though the tank is empty, but occasionally will bounce around 3/4 to Full. If I pull the plug out on the tank itself the fuel guage immediately reverts back to full position.
So if the sender is bad, would this not cause the fuel guage to go to full and not empty as mentioned prior?

Oops, the post did go through!
Thanks!

GM fuel gauge senders use a resistance value of 0 ohms EMPTY and 90 ohms full.
To check the gauge and narrow things down to the sender
So if the sender wire is disconnected the Gauge should read FULL i.e. it's at more than 90 ohms-it's open circuited.
This would seem to confirm Ron's statement
If the sender wire is touched to EARTH the gauge should read EMPTY --0 ohms
With the ignition ON , of course
Hope this helps

Any idea what color wire I am suppose to ground to see if the fuel gauge goes to empty?
J
Purple or Pink is the sender output.
Check also the BLACK earth wire is a good earth/ground.
(GREY is fuel pump power.)
