Not sure how this happened or what all needs to be done or checked to correct it. Any help is appreciated!
TIA
Its common.
Probably can get away with just replacing the lash adjuster.
The lash adjuster seals start going and dont fully pump up and allows slop. So you sometimes throw a follower.
Or you like redlining it..hehe

This is becoming more common now that the Ecotec guys are getting up higher in mileage. This on the GTC?

Definitely becoming more common. I'd replace the lash adjuster and follower just to be safe.
Looks like you already have the machined followers, so just make sure you get another machined one instead of the earlier stamped style.

"In Oldskool we trust"
Is there any aftermarket ones avalible? Also if I just order from gmpartsdirect is it going to be a machined one?
There are aftermarket options but they are retardedly expensive and not worth it. They are different part numbers. If you look them up for an 08+ lnf cobalt it'll be the right ones. ZZP also sells them in sets.
