Hopefully someone can help me with this. It seems here recently that i'll be driving down the road and hit a pothole or really any bump in the road and the dome light will come on for a brief second then fade out. I have checked the switch on the dash and it's not set to the on position or anything.
I had 2 thoughts on what the issue might be:
Faulty wiring
The actual door switch has gone bad
Has anyone else had this issue? Need some help in identifying the problem please. BTW the car is a 2004 Cavalier Base model.
Door switch/door latch. Latch may not be grabbing too well, otherwise door switch.

You can test it being the door switch by observing the radio's functional as well. The same door switch will allow the radio to operate after engine off key out for 5 or 10 minutes OR until the door switch is open.
Otherwise, id pull the dome switch/dimmer and test it.
Pull the jamb switch, and test it with a ohm meter and bang it around and see what happens. Or actually could be its loose in the jamb itself. Try tugging on it and see if it moves at all. If it does, check and see if the switch has clip behind it or if the clips themselfs are molded onto the switch itself and if there broken or missing, and replace as needed. Goodluck.
That push button that my door pushes when closed is broken, how hard are those to replace?
Are your keys heavy? Try this:
Get in your car, close the doors and lock it. Start the car. Wait a minute. Then try pulling your keys (the group of keys attached to it as well) out quickly. Then pust it back in.
Did that repeat what you've experienced? If so, just minimize the weight of your keys or replace the ignition cylinder. Good luck.

No, its easy. Grab the broken switch out with pliers or vise grips and the retaining fins will break. Pull it out, but dont pull too hard/far. Disconnect the connector. Connect the new one. Insert into the hole but not too far. Then close the door to set the proper depth. Good luck.
