what now?! problems after head re-install

ok, i got everything together, re-torqued according to Haynes and now it idles rough as hell. I have good compression, between 165-175 in all cylinders, good spark, correct firing order, plenty of fuel.

When I give it gas, it revs up great, acts/sounds like normal, but as soon as it comes down from revs and back to idle, it runs as though off a cylinder.

I had a ton of coolant poor out the cylinder #4 side around the head, but I believe this is from the crappy gasket for the egr/water inlet that was with the head set. Seeing as I have good compression in every cylinder I would assume the headgasket is fine, there's no water in oil either. No CEL either, i'm kinda stumped here.

Anyone have ANY suggestions??

you posted the same exact thing in the performance forum and here ? why ? cross/double posting is against the rules, and pretty annoying.

but back on topic.. i would change the egr valve gasket. if you have the 2.2 liter make sure all your vacuume hoses are connected. especially the one going from your valve cover to your upper intake manifold.

Re-torque your rocker arms. If one of them is off, even slightly, your engine will run like poo. Madjack posted about having a similar problem, and thats how he fixed it.

I double posted because I needed a quick answer as there was nothing coming up in the searches, and I don't need anyone telling me what the rules are as I'm more than fully aware, I can read.

I do appreciate your reply on the topic, however. The hose you're referring to is the one for the pcv valve, and it is a bit loose, but when I move it around there is no change. I think it is a vacuum leak though, as I have a couple broken vacuum hoses which I'm trying to fix. It seems on par with a vacuum leak too, give it throttle things are fine because it is reaching the equilibrium point rather than being a vacuum like it is at idle and decel. Also, I did find it was the egr transition gasket that was my problem. The head set that I ordered had the gasket for the pre-95 2.2 ohv motors. It's weird, I cross-referenced the part #'s online and they were the same, but for whatever, they did not include the 95-97 egr conversion gasket or intake manifold gasket.

I will go back and re-torque them, I thought about it as well after I posted, I don't have any knocking though which is typically associated with a loose rocker arm, but I will re-torque again just to be sure.
