Did you check the IAC and MAP sensor vacumm line, when any of those parts are not pluged the idle acts funny.

i have a hole in one of the vacuum lines going into the intake manifold, would that do it?

just to add to my last post

i had to bypass the ignition switch, because either a relay is bad or something else is bad
i tested the positve going to the starter, but it had no power going throuhg it, im guessing it is a bad relay
so right now i have the starter on a switch, just put the key in the ignition, turn it on, and hit the swtich to start the car, but when it starts its at 4000 rpms at idle

ok what sensor is that, and thats the vacuum line, which goes into the intake manifold, and the sensor

i taped the vacuum line just to see if that was it, but it wasnt.... yeah i know im cheap, but im also completely broke, thats why im doing it and not having someone else do it

If you pull that apart theres a color seal inside... Red Blue Or Green. I forget what each color it is, but i can bring home my notes tommarow and let you know what it is.

According to ALLDATA, it looks like your MAP Sensor
so i dont know if that helps you at all or not

That is your pressure sensor (MAP sensor) for sure, I had a bouncing high idle once and it was the short vaccum line that attaches the MAP sensor to the throtle body that came loose, twice it happened till I secured it with a tie wrap, never hapen again I think I had to reset the comp. Donīt know how to test it thou, sorry, hope someone posts how. The MAP has a label:
" Pressure sensor
5V OUT GND and a part nbr."

Manifold absolute pressure sensor is what chilton calls it.

a friend of mine was telling me about a cav they had for sale on their lot, needed a lot of work done it, one of the problems was that it idles high. as to why, apparently some sensor needs to be replaced because it ithinks the A/C is on so it idles high to power the alternator more. maybe look into that, or i might be talking nonsense i dunno
