99 cav 2.2 Is the thermostat in the upper rad house that connects to the head by the alternator....or is it in the Y house that connects the lower rad house by the water pump.....I am stumped on this one. I can't drive it very far b/c it overheats....at least I think....the temp gauge dosen' t work, and I replaced the temp sensor. As soon as I start the car the fan kicks on, I let it idle for a few min...the upper rad house is hot but the lower rad house is cold....so I'm thinking it is the thermostat....help!!!

yes, its in that Y thing you talked about.. Unscrew the hard pipe that had the two bolts and it sits right in there.. Notice how you take it out becaus thats how you put the new one in.
