Trunk tension/torque bars
Saturday, July 22, 2006 12:38 PM
I was trying to adjust the torque/tension bars on the trunk of my 96 cav sedan, but messed up. I've tried searching the forums here, and have come up with nothing (also my repair manual isn't helping)... I accidentally popped the bar right out and am trying to reinstall them. When I try to reinstall, they seem incredible loose (I can't get any tension at all).

Does anyone have any suggestions? (pictures would help).. Thanks.

I can help with this one, it was the bane of my existance for a good 2 hours

3rd pic: Where you see the rod coming through the square tube on the trunk brace, directly above that square tube is where the bar feeds through.

Thanks so much Admiral.. this will be a big help. I've already wasted a bunch of time on them & I wasn't enjoying knowing that my sand wedge was the only thing stopping the trunk from slamming on my head again (I learned my lesson when I knocked the bars out in the first place).
