AC Clutch Pulley

Could need an adjustment or a replacement

Dealer should do it farely cheap for an Adjustment while in there they usually will not charge you labor on a belt replacement either

I had the same problem on my '99 Z. I found an article online somewhere where I guy said to use a tiny flathead screwdriver to pry the clutch out a little ways from the compressor. You just want to do it slightly so that the clutch isn't rubbing all the time (that is what is causing the grinding noise). If you do it too much, the clutch won't engage anymore. For reference as to how much to pry it, the guy in the article said the width of your thumb nail.

I have the same problem off and on with my 97 z24. Good to know what it is. I figure if all else fails just rip it all out. Who needs a/c? haha...but at the same time i dont know if it would be worth it to do the work just to takeo ut 10-15lbs and salvage 5hp if that

Cavalier z24......A poor man's Camaro....close enough, right?
